What is titanium dioxide ?

Titanium dioxide is an inorganic compound with the formula Tio2, commonly known as titanium IV oxide or titania. This substance is a white solid pigment with wide applications in various industries.
The molecular structure of this substance is rectangular in shape. This chemical compound is found in nature as three crystals of anatase, brookite and rutile. Only rutile and anatase crystals are used to produce pigments, and despite the same crystal system, there are certain differences in their network structure.

Application of titanium dioxide

The chemical composition of titania is one of the most widely used mineral pigments in industries. The most important consumers of this mineral salt are paint and coating industries, papermaking and plastic industries.
These industries consume more than 80% of the titanium produced in the world.
8% of the world's titania is used in fiber production, rubber industry pigments, cosmetic products and food production.
Other applications of titanium dioxide in ceramic and glass industries, preparation of catalysts, production of electrical current conductors and synthesis of chemical intermediates have been mentioned. This mineral composition is in the form of a white solid powder in its natural state.
